<p>The <strong>Borghese Gallery</strong> is an art gallery in Rome situated in <strong><a title="Villa Borghese" href="http://www.abcroomsinrome.com/rome-guide/rome-guide-villa-borghese/" target="_self">Villa Borghese</a></strong>, surrounded by the homonyn park. Cardinal Scipione Borghese began the collection over four centuries ago, when he ordered the construction of the Villa, which still is one of the most sumptuous in Rome.</p>
<p>The Gallery has twenty rooms across two floors and it is home to a large and superb collection of works belonging to modern art and ancient Roman art, among which <strong>Caravaggio</strong>, <strong>Titian</strong>, <strong>Raphael</strong>, <strong>Canova </strong>and <strong>Bernini</strong> are the most representative authors.</p>
<p>The collection includes major paintings such as Caravaggio&#8217;s &#8220;<em>Boy with a Basket of fruit</em>&#8221; and &#8220;St Jerome&#8221;, Titian&#8217;s &#8220;<em>Sacred and Profane Love</em>&#8220;, and &#8220;Entombemt of Christ&#8221; by Raphael. The most notable sculptures are Bernini&#8217;s &#8220;<em>Apollo and Daphne</em>&#8221; and Canova&#8217;s &#8220;Venus Victrix&#8221;.</p>
